Did you know the San Antonio Public Library has one of these?
That's a rare, first edition print version of the 1611 King James Bible. That thing has been around for 400 years.
It's on display in the Texas/Genealogy section of the Central Public Library through August 26.
If you get the chance, check it out. Get up close and see the detail, and find out how well it's held up over the centuries.
Who knows when they will put it on display again?

It's not there permanently, is it? I thought it was just sort of "on tour" to a bunch of different libraries around the world.
Actually the San Antonio Library owns that thing. They purchased it in 1942 (I think) from a collector in England. This collector wanted to protect it from possible destruction by Hitler's bombing attacks, and the best place he could think of was somewhere out of England. And, from what I understand, this could be the first time they've put it on display.
Here's some more accurate information (from Nowcast San Antonio) on the recent history of that Bible.
