"S.A. Man Builds Motorbikes"

WOAI reports on a wonderful new invention that can save you lots of money at the gas pump.

One San Antonio man is fighting high gas prices with motorized bicycles.

Mark Morales, a UTSA graduate, started a company called Spike's Motorbikes.

He says the bikes weigh about 40 pounds each. To start one, you pop the clutch and the motor kicks on. The bikes can go up to 30 mile per hour and get 100 miles per gallon.

"It's a good thing for anybody on a tight budget," said Morales.

What a great idea! I wonder why no one has thought of this before!

Oh, wait ...

So he's building Mopeds.

Yeah. It's kind of odd that a news outlet actually found that newsworthy.

You know, I have this idea to save boaters money.

Instead of filling up the Evinrude for a day at the lake, they could get a big pole - a mast if you will, in the boat, and hoist up some blankets, or maybe a sail. By doing this, they could harness the wind to make the boat move across the water without having to use so much gas.

Alert the media.

lol Don't you think it's possible you'd probably come out even factoring in the amount of time spent to travel...because you'd have to take backroads everywhere...? you'd never be able to take one on the highway... if you're only going to be able to get up to 30mph, and would have to steer clear of the highway, wouldn't it make as much sense to buy a regular BIKE and not have to pay gas at all (that's a GENIUS IDEA!)???

Plus, a regular bike might result in better health.

Maybe.

When I was a teenager I knew a guy who had a Moped. One time he ran out of gas and had to pedal it home (no money for more gas). I won't repeat his entire story here, but suffice to say that pedaling a 40-pound bicycle several miles is not a whole lot of fun.

Before leaving stupid comments you should know what you're talking about. Have you seen the Moped websites? Prices range fr $899-$2500+ and they're more of a motorcycle than a self-propelling/motorize bicycle. Also the weight of those bikes is 165+ lbs. Wouldn't want to push that if I could pedal my bike from Spikes!
