Doubled street

Some time ago, I did a post about the unusual doubling of street names in San Antonio, specifically about how completely different roadways, sometimes in completely different parts of town, share name elements (i.e., Wurzbach Road and Harry Wurzbach Road).

But I forgot to include this one. And it's destined to be a classic.

Yes, you see that correctly. That is Whitby Road intersecting with Whitby Road.

Just try giving directions in that part of town.

That's not the only place where that happens. I'll try to make a mental note next time I see it.

That is confusing. We have a north, south, east and west intersection of the same named road.

Let us know about it. Put it on your blog, or let me know.

When we lived in Virginia, for a while we lived on McLean St off McLean St. It was hell getting pizza delivered.

There used to be a 5 way intersection with Babcock, Heubner and Whitby, but they changed the intersection and moved Whitby back down Heubner. Makes perfect sense to me.

Too bad we don't have both Whitby Roads intersecting with any number of the Military Drives. That'd be a hoot.

Oh my. I've seen that street before. I get confused with streets here in San Antonio like Northwest Military and Southwest Military and Military Drive, are those even the same thing? When driving on 410 or 1604, we get confused and don't know which "Military" these signs are even talking about.
