Drinking and driving don't mix

Even when it's just water, apparently.

An official in the Northside Independent School District says the bus driver was choking on a drink of water and lost control of the bus.

It crashed into a retaining wall and then a tree.

No students were on the bus at the time.

(from KENS-5)

The driver seems to be OK. The bus is crashed, though.

My wife and I drove by this scene (it happened about two neighborhoods over from ours) as they were trying to get the bus hooked up to the wrecker. Of course, I whipped out my camera to commence my usual documentation process, but the police officer directing traffic didn't look like he was in the mood for rubber-neckers.

Glad no kids were on board. The front end of the bus was really smashed in.

hahahaha I'm sorry, my initial reaction should not be to laugh. I guess inside I'm just hoping since I just got a new car that this doesn't happen to me!

I drive with NISD, but from a different station. They brought this up at the last safety meeting.

The assistant on the bus was trying to get to the front and pull the brake, but couldn't make it in time.

Both people are fine, AFAIK, the bus though...
