SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Bike Share program is the newest way for San Antonio residents to get a different look at their city, especially if they live or work downtown.(from KSAT-12)
"It really is designed for your local community to be able to move about in an active eco-friendly way," said Cindi Snell, who is the executive director of San Antonio B-cycle and co-owner of Bike World.
Bikes are parked at 14 kiosks all over downtown, from the Pearl Brewery south to Blue Star.
Although visitors can take advantage of it, the setup is designed for locals.
"If you need to move about downtown -- whether it's a meeting, or a lunch or delivery, whatever it might be -- instead of moving your car and having to re-park or pay for parking, you just use these bikes for short trips," Snell said.
For those who live in the downtown area, it is a unique way to see the city, especially if you don't own a bike.
And they have nifty baskets!

Just based on the way some people in S.A. regard shopping carts, I don't see how this could possibly work.
It should be interesting to see what state the program is in a year from now.
I'll let y'all know the first time I see one of 'em over here...
Please do!
They have patterned the Bike-Share program after similar programs in Europe. Will be interesting to see how motorists in the state where CAR is king handles this new development. I'm rooting for it, but I've seen the way motorists treat cyclists, it's not pretty!!
