A car crashes into a house again, but this time it takes out a gas main along the way, causing a fire that burns the house and the car.

The car went out of control at the intersection of Kendalia and Ascott, hitting a gas main and a house and prompting some evacuations.

It seems no one was hurt, but the house and the car are total losses.

This time with fire!

SAN ANTONIO – News4 WOAI is uncovering new information about how a driver had to jump out [sic] his car on I-37 before it crashed into a house and caught the house on fire.

Witnesses tell police that a car, which was on fire, left the expressway and hit a house. The driver was northbound on I-37 when he noticed his rear seat was on fire. He jumped out of the car, which then slammed into a home near S. Hackberry and Rigsby.

The house caught fire, too, but no one inside was hurt. The driver was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center, but his condition was unknown at the time of this report.

A thief who should have thought a little more

If you steal someone's trailer, and you find out there's a professional race car inside of it, you might want to consider that the car might be difficult to drive around in without drawing attention. So you might leave it behind. But, if you do decide to take the race car, and even if you think it would be a good idea to hide it so you can keep it, you might do well to stash it someplace away from where you grow all your pot.

Police say it started this weekend when they recovered a stolen trailer on W.W. White. Police contacted the owner, who is a professional race car driver. He asked if his racing car was still in the back of the trailer. It was not.

Police say through their investigation, they identified a person of interest. On Tuesday, the department flew its Eagle Helicopter to search for the car. It was located in the backyard of a house on Tucker.

The suspect had an outstanding warrant so he was immediately arrested. Police the suspect's mother also lives at the house, and gave consent to search. That's when detectives found an addition to the house in the back. Inside they said it was like a greenhouse for growing marijuana plants.

Almost!

OK, it didn't actually hit the house, but this car took out a stop sign, two fences, and a couple of gas meters before finally catching fire and burning up a bunch of grass.

According to investigators, a 66-year-old man was driving a car along Canyon Golf when, for some reason, he veered off the road.

After jumping a curb and knocking a stop sign 20 feet, the car went through two different privacy fences and hit two gas meter boxes before coming to a stop.

The car then caught fire, and the fire spread to the lawns of two homes. Firefighters were able to put out the flames before any homes sustained major damage. There was some exterior melting to a house reported.

The driver of the car was taken to a hospital for treatment but is expected to be okay. No other injuries were reported.

This time, the car was pushed into the house. By a police car, going fast. And the house caught fire. And the driver ran away.

The Express-News has the story.

The crash occurred before 5 p.m. in the 300 block of Paul Street at the Piedmont Street intersection when the officer, in response to a call of a stabbing on the same street, collided with the driver's side door of a brown Cadillac, [San Antonio Police Department Lt. Scott Bell] said.

When the car hit the house, the front of it caught on fire and in turn ignited the corner of the small frame home, Bell said.

He said the driver of the Cadillac fled the scene, but officers found someone believed to be the driver about an hour later a few blocks away. He was taken into custody, but Bell was unsure if any charges would be filed.

The stabbing call was a false alarm.

Or, rather, through a house!

SAN ANTONIO - Fire officials were called out to a home on the West Side after a car drove right through the garage. It happened at a vacant home in the 100 block of Villa Arbolitos near Culebra Road and 24th Street.

Police got the call just after 3:00 a.m. Tuesday. They say the car drove into the garage and came out the other side. Officials on scene say the fire department was called after a tow truck driver was worried the house could collapse.

Holy cow, that car was moving! But the driver fled the scene and was nowhere around to tell just how fast he was going to make it through a house.

Police are searching for a driver who slammed his car into a home on Rio Grande overnight.

Officers say the man driving the car ran off following the crash.

According to police, a woman was left inside the wrecked vehicle. She called a friend to pick her up.

Possible overheard conversation: "Uh, can you pick me up? I'm at somebody's house, somebody I don't know, and I'm still in the car. -- No, I'm in the house, too. -- Yeah, so's the car. -- Uh, when you get here, do you mind if I drive home?"

This time, it's in Kirby, and another car is brought into the fray.

A car smashed into a house on Sunrise Bend near Binz-Engleman and Foster Road. Police say a driver had a seizure, ran a stop sign, hit a car, and then that car also smashed into the house. Luckily, no one was hurt.

Usually I will point out media reports when a car crashes into a house, mainly because it seems such incidents happen fairly often in this town. And I find that strange.

But, as WOAI reports, this time it was just a person who crashed into a house, with tragic results.

The man laid the motorcycle down on the street and hit a car. He was then thrown from the bike and hit the house, authorities said.

The 26-year-old man was killed in the accident.

UPDATE: The Express-News reports that the man hit a car, not a house.

SUV crashes into house

Car, house, person. No fences were involved, though.

The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. near Walzem Road and New World. Police said the driver of a Lincoln Navigator came around a corner too fast and hit the house and a car that was in the driveway at the home.

A man sitting on the front porch was hit by the SUV. He was taken to Northeast Baptist Hospital with leg injuries but is expected to be all right.

"Car Explodes, Sets House On Fire"

This is something you probably wouldn't expect to happen at your house (from KSAT-12).

Maria Schweikert said she was in her garage getting ready to leave her home at 9:30 a.m. in the 300 block of Zephyr when she heard an explosion underneath her vehicle.

"The car exploded," Schweikert said.

Thinking her garage was on fire, Schweikert tried to back her car out, but then she realized it was her car that was on fire.

Schweikert ran inside to call for help, but the telephones weren't working, all the while flames were spreading inside her home.

She made it out OK, though her house was burned. Sounds like she was pretty lucky overall.

A car smashed into a house on the northeast side sending three people to the hospital.

It happened just before 1:30 Saturday afternoon at Somerset and Sunrise.

According to emergency responders the car ran right through the stop sign at the intersection, hit another car and slammed into a house.

Bonus strangeness: Just now, when I went to type "WOAI", I caught myself starting to type "KMOL" instead. How weird is that? It's been a while since that station used those call letters. Is that some kind of subconscious long-term memory thing? Or am I just some old geezer remembering the old days?

Beware the flying, house-destroying cars.

According to neighbors, the Ford Mustang was speeding down the street when it suddenly jumped a curb. It came between some trees, flipped over and went straight into the house.

"I went outside and opened up the door," Lopez told News 4 WOAI. "I said, what is that? I said, oh man. There's a car in my backyard."

Lopez says no one inside the house was hurt, but they have a huge mess to clean up.

The car's occupants were injured and taken to the hospital. Perhaps now they will slow down in the neighborhoods.

Two men in a sedan crashed into the side of a house on the city's North Side early Monday morning, injuring the passenger.

The driver attempted to flee in the vehicle, but the car died a block from the house, police said. The driver then fled on foot, leaving the injured passenger in the car, police said.

The men damaged four mailboxes in the neighborhood before putting a large hole in the side of a house on the 4100 block of Wahada Avenue. The home had about $1,000 in damage, a police officer said.

I'm beginning to think the automobiles are waging a new offensive in their war against the domiciles, a surge, if you will.

A teenager is in big trouble with the police after crashing a car into another vehicle and a house.

The crash happened Sunday morning in the 6100 block of Jackies Farm.

Police said the teen crashed into a truck on Mystic Sunrise and tried to drive away, but that driver followed him.

The boy then sped through the eastside neighborhood and lost control, crashing into a driveway, a car, and a house, said police.

The car he hit went into the garage, badly damaging the home.

This one did not end well at all.

Two people are dead and a home destroyed after a speeding car crashed into a house sparking a two alarm fire.

Firefighters say the driver of that car and a person who lived in the home were killed.

The fire started just before 2:30 a.m. Sunday when the car veered off the street and slammed into the house in the 4200 block of Timberhill.

Domicile destruction ensues, but it looks like this is a case of a bad temper. And I'm having a bit of trouble following the sequence of events.

SAN ANTONIO -- A 38-year-old man was arrested Saturday after he drove his car though a garage door on the city's east side.

Sgt. Mario Cervantes of the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said the man got upset with a 14-year-old niece and ordered the girl to leave with him.

The girl then got scared and ran to a neighbor's home, Cervantes said.

"He still thought she was inside the residence, so he came outside the residence, grabbed their dog, threw the dog inside the vehicle," Cervantes said.

The man then yelled for the teen to go with him, Cervantes said.

The man then drove the car though the garage at a home in the 7500 block of Rustic Trail, Cervantes said.

The girl was not seriously injured, Cervantes said.

Let me see if I've got this straight: Man orders girl to leave with him. She runs to another house. Man doesn't notice. Man grabs dog and throws it into vehicle. Man yells to girl in house where she is not. He drives through the garage. She is injured, but not seriously.

?

Was she in the house or not? If she wasn't, how could she have been injured at all? If the man drove to the house where she ran to and crashed there, then obviously he knew where she was, so why point out that the man thought she was somewhere else?

And what's with the dog? With that element, this story reminds me of the Book of Tobit.

And the fence was hit as well.

Richard Daluz and Jen Rodriguez were watching television at their home in the 2100 block of Farmsville Drive at 9 p.m. when they got the startling surprise.

"It sounded like either a plane crashing outside or honestly, if lightning were to strike a couple feet away from you," Daluz said.

Before the car hit the home, it took out a mailbox and shattered a wooden fence, police said.

The boy had taken his father's car without permission so that he could play basketball in the driveway when he lost control, police said.

"He tried to back it up and he didn't realize how strong the car was," said Officer Michael Guzman of the San Antonio Police Department.

The boy was twelve. The police gave him a ticket for driving without a license.

If you get into an argument with someone in the car, you might want to hold off on the angry outbursts until you come to a stop. Otherwise, you might end up in a house.

An argument that began in a car ends in someone's kitchen. Police say the driver of a car was speeding down Henderson Pass while arguing with a passenger. That's when that driver lost control of the car and ended up going through the yard and inside a home on Laurel Hollow. No word tonight if that driver faces any charges.

A family on the southwest side is picking up the pieces after a car crashed into their house early Sunday morning.

Albert Esparza remembers being jolted out of his sleep by a sound no one expects to hear at 3:30 a.m.

"It was just like a blast," said Esparza. "Like two cars going 90 miles an hour and hitting head-on."

Well, like one car hitting a house, probably.
