Yeah, kind of strange, huh? When I first saw the stone, I thought his rank was "general," and I thought it was a bit strange that the Army would put his rank first and not his given name like on the rest of the headstones. And then I saw the "PVT.", and that's when I realized someone had actually named their son "General," and that his rank was private.
So, he would have been called Private General Green.
