Flag bleg

I saw a sticker that looked like this on someone's car the other day:



Does anyone know what this particular derivation of the Texas flag symbolizes, what group it stands for or what it means? I couldn't get a picture of the sticker, so I created this image from memory. The asterisks were actually letters, but I couldn't quite make them out in the brief moment I saw the curious symbol.

Any clues? I am genuinely curious.

    Before finding the answer in the comments section, I tried using this new Goggles app from Google on my phone. The concept is spiffy: take a picture of something and it scours the internet to provide information. Closest match was a flag from Slovenia.

    Actually, Dave, I'd say that's not a bad match. The Slovenia flag does have very similar elements, like three stars, a white emblem of sorts, and the colors red, white, and blue.

    But that's about it.

    Not a good match, mind you, but not bad.
